SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER / CIVIL ENGINEER

Assignment:
To undertake an assessment of the schools and
community facilities that have been constructed in
the refugee settlements in North Eastern Chad and to
advise on the process to undertake further
construction. This will include preparation of the
construction program, and the design, tendering and
construction process. The assignment will include
the preparation of the construction budgets the
construction timetable and the organizational
structure required to manage the construction
program.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing the
construction of residential and commercial buildings
and community infrastructure. The candidate should
be experienced in preparing and negotiating
construction contracts, supervising the design
process, preparing budgets, obtaining approvals and
managing the staff, contractors and professionals
undertaking the construction.
The candidate should be in good mental and physical
health and self supporting in windows, and spread
sheet computer programs.
Compensation:
All travel, accommodation and living expenses will
be paid and the candidate will receive a modest
honorarium over the contract period.
International and Language Skills.
Knowledge of French and previous international work
experience will be an asset, but not a requirement.
Position: SHELTER EVALUATION CONSULTANT
Location: Several community locations in Sri Lanka
Duration: Three Weeks in November 2005

Assignment:
To
join a multidisciplinary team that is to undertake
an assessment of the several hundred temporary
housing shelters constructed and several hundred
permanent shelters built over the past six months.
The team is to undertake a comprehensive evaluation,
and the Builders Without Borders Consultant’s role
will be to focus on the design, tendering budgeting
, contracting, construction and project control
process. The assignment will also include the
preparation of the construction budgets the
construction timetable and the organizational
structure required to continue the construction
program.
The assessment should also address the construction
related process such as tenant selection, tenant
education and involvement of the community in the
construction process.
